Project aim

Hamble Lifeboat are looking to expand our Search & Rescue capability by purchasing a small craft capable of operating in shallow waters.

The Folding RIB is 2.75m long and will have 6HP Suzuki engine. The folding nature of the rib means storing, transporting and using of the craft will be operationally easy and the fact it has a solid hull gives the craft a very stable platform to work from.

As you can see from these photos, we have tested the craft and when we have raised sufficient funds, can put in an order for a new one.

Our standard area of operation for our lifeboat is Southampton Water, the associated rivers (Hamble, Itchen & Test) and the Central Solent. This craft will give us the capability to perform search and rescue in shallow water and hard to reach parts of the area we cover.

Being an independent charity run by volunteers, we rely entirely on generous donations from the public in order to continue to operate as a Lifeboat responding to calls from the UK Coast Guard. Our main lifeboats are some of the most capable RIBs in operation anywhere in UK waters. For more information about the service, please look at our website www.hamblelifeboat.co.uk

We really do appreciate any and every donation.

Many thanks.
